NorthStar Talent/Games Jobs Finland is looking for a Sr Backend Engineer to a temporary assignment.

Length: ASAP until the end of 2023. Continuation possible.

Location: EU/EEA, Turkey

Your Mission and Responsibilities:

You will be joining a team of very experienced backend engineers, infrastructure engineers, game developers, designers and data scientists that operate with a DevOps mindset. Our backend infrastructure is a solid ground to build on, using modern cloud technologies, containers, and databases, running on top of Kubernetes clusters in AWS.

You will join a team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the backend services of our game. In your role you will take part in designing and implementing services to support game features, new data models and persistence of game data. You would also work on evolving and modernizing our backend, to help bring us to the next level in terms of performance and scalability.

In your first month:

  • You will spend time getting to know us and the technologies we are using.
  • You will go through our on-boarding plan and familiarize yourself with our team setup.
  • You will review existing services and systems with a fresh perspective.

In the next 3-6 months:

  • You will build support for game features, adding and improving upon a backend architecture that is composed of multiple services with a well-defined scope and purpose.
  • You will balance the need for scalability/performance and delivering features on time.
  • You will be creating APIs that other developers and teams will use.
  • On any given day you might be architecting new features, designing data structures and data storage or improving the performance and scalability of existing functionality.
  • You will help us improve our code quality by setting a standard in how we do unit tests, automation and perform code reviews. You will help in advocating DevOps culture.

Some Success Indicators for Your Role:

  • You are experienced in API Development, creating backend services that provide services to other applications and interface with databases.
  • You know your way around databases, know how to create database schemas that work for a given access pattern, for storing and querying data.
  • You are experienced with one of the major programming languages, and you are knowledgeable or interested in Python, Golang or Rust.
  • You bring a positive and solution-oriented approach.
  • You have the emotional intelligence to have empathy and understanding of other disciplines in and around the product.
