Game Designer (junior–mid level) FAKEFISH / Turku Finland / remotely
PUBLISHED: January 17, 2022
We’re looking for someone who can join our growing team as a game designer. The core of your work will be balancing our games and assisting the two senior designers in our team with general game design tasks and content creation. You should be prepared to work fairly independently as well as function well in a team environment. We hope you can start by the beginning of March or even sooner.
The design team loves brainstorming, and ideally we would find a third team member to discuss ideas with in a friendly, relaxed way. However, you’re no mere “idea guy” and can discuss implementation and implications of your design ideas as well. Besides your good company and imaginative nature, we can always trust your ability to carry out assigned tasks with care.
You’ve worked as a game designer in a studio environment for at least a year, or have proven equivalent experience with a serious hobby project or mod. Either way, you can show us some cool stuff you’ve worked on and elaborate on what it was you contributed to the project.
Skills and qualities:
Balancing gameplay systems and economies
Content creation and level design
Comfortable with .xml and Excel/Google Sheets
Familiarity with Barotrauma and similar games
High self-motivation as well as ability to work collaboratively.
Our working language is English, and we need you to be able to communicate comfortably in speech and writing. Finnish language proficiency is not required.
Our HQ is in Turku, and applicants who are able to commute to the premises on at least a weekly basis, pandemic permitting, are preferred. We are open to fully remote work as well.
Interviews will be conducted exclusively via video call on Discord, starting in early February.
